The Elektro-Mechanik EM GmbH EASI Earth Fault Indicator is designed for medium-voltage radial and open-ring networks. It detects ground faults by measuring the sum current with a divisible, retrofittable sensor. Faults are clearly indicated by an ultra-bright LED, and optionally by a mechanical flag (in the EASI-R version) for excellent daytime visibility.
The system consists of a display unit and a single current transformer (CT) sensor. Key operational details include:
- Fault Detection: Permanent earth faults are indicated by a double-blinking LED.
- Power Supply: Runs on an exchangeable 3.6V lithium battery, with 110V/230V AC or DC auxiliary power available as an option.
- Resets: Features automatic reset upon current/power recovery, or manual reset via a front push-button or remote contact.
- Sensor Types: The standard EASI sensor connects via cable, while the EASI-L variant uses a potential-free fibre optic connection allowing installation on unscreened cables.
