The Beckhoff BK5220 is an “Economy plus” DeviceNet Bus Coupler designed to link modular electronic terminal blocks to a DeviceNet fieldbus network using the CAN protocol. It provides high-capacity signal routing and robust scaling for industrial automation systems.

• System Capacity: Connects up to 64 Bus Terminals directly, which can scale up to 255 terminals via Beckhoff’s K-bus extension technology. 
• Signal Processing: Handles a maximum of 1,020 digital inputs/outputs and 256 analog channels per slave unit. 
• Fieldbus Data: Offers a maximum communication capacity of 512 bytes input and 512 bytes output. 
• Operating Modes: Fully supports standard DeviceNet communication methods, including bit strobe, polling, cyclic, and change of state (COS). 
• Power & Electrical: Operates on a standard 24 V DC power supply. It features 500 V electrical isolation between the supply voltage and internal power contacts for safety. 
• Network Interface: Uses a 5-pin open pluggable connector compatible with screened, twisted copper wiring. It also features automatic baud rate detection to simplify initialization.
